Our practice encompasses cognitive behavioral, neurologic, and psycho-dynamic elements to promote client-centered services. Position Title: Board-Certified Music Therapist

Position Type: Contractual Part-Time (1-15 clinical hours) and/or Full-Time (16+ clinical hours)

Location: South Florida (Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Lehigh Acres, Estero, Miami, Orlando, etc.)

Start Date: Immediately

Supervisor: Ana-Alicia Lopez, MM, MT-BC (Owner and Clinical Director)

About the Position:

The House of Music Therapy (THMT) is looking for a dedicated and dependable Board-Certified Music Therapist to join our “House!” The ideal candidate will work independently, have excellent clinical and musicianship skills, and be passionate about providing high quality services to the clients and families we serve.

The person chosen to fulfill this position will be expected to work with children, adolescents, and adults with neurological disorders, intellectual and developmental disorders, and mental health needs in individual and group music therapy sessions and (possibly) adaptive music services. However, the majority of services will be music therapy related.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Complete necessary on-boarding requirements for THMT

  • Plan and conduct developmentally-appropriate individual and group sessions to meet client-specific, measurable goals

  • Collect and synthesize clinical data into measurable outcome reports

  • Evaluate client progress and complete daily progress reports and quarterly re-assessment reports in a timely manner

  • Transport (drive) self and necessary equipment to client homes, day facilities, medical facilities, and/or residential facilities

  • Manage personal schedule, invoices, and tax information

  • Provide majority of clinical tools including instruments, educational resources, and

  • Adhere to THMT documentation and invoicing deadlines

  • Play a vital and supporting role as a liaison to the clients and their families

  • Treat every client, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy

  • Understand THMT’s core mission and values and incorporate them into daily practice

  • Comply with applicable federal and/or state laws (i.e. HIPAA), regulations and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc. (i.e. board-certification requirements, standards of clinical practice, CPR credentials, etc.)

  • Adhere to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Standards of Clinical Practice and Code of Ethics

  • Participate in ongoing growth and development activities consistent with the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) professional standards

  • Maintain music therapy supplies and demonstrate appropriate care of materials

  • Regularly communicate and connect with client caregivers, case managers, and/or treatment team members

  • Opportunities to represent THMT at community events and presentations

  • **For applicants with 3+ years of clinical experiences** Supervise music therapy practicum students and/or music therapy internship students (additional compensation provided)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy (required). Master’s degree in Music Therapy preferred.

  • Board certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) (required)

  • Dependable transportation and good driving record (required)

  • Owns the necessary equipment to complete services (i.e. instruments, recording tools, computer, etc)

  • Effective and strong behavioral management skills

  • Proficient musicianship and clinical skills

  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds (cultural, social, physical, psychological, etc).

  • Effective and organized written and verbal communication skills

  • Spanish language proficiency preferred

Compensation: Ranges from $40.00 - $100.00 or $40k to $50k for adaptive music and music therapy services (with opportunity for growth). Pay rate commensurate education and experience.
